Reviews:
* If you're looking for the best fuel economy in the hybrid field, the 2012 Toyota Prius' 51/48 mpg rating is still king. As some states also allow hybrid cars to waive the 2-person-per-car minimum to drive in the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes, the 2012 Toyota Prius might actually be able to speed up your commute times. With the Plug-in Hybrid version, you could theoretically stop using gasoline altogether if your commutes are relatively short. Source: KBB.com

  • Best of Both Worlds!

This is the perfect car for me right now. I can take advantage of all electric driving for short trips around town but yet get to enjoy the great Prius gas mileage for longer trips or even road trips across the country. The hatchback is very versatile and can surprisingly hold a ton of stuff and seat 4 or 5 passengers comfortably. There is a lot of great tech in this car. By far the best vehicle I've ever owned.
  • This is my second Prius. My first was a 2008.

Loved the 2008 but had almost 100,000 miles on it was worried about battery replacement cost. Read about the plug-in coming out. So ordered a 2012. Love it. Was my primary car running around locally, got 70-85 mpg. On trips get 52-55 mpg without plugging up. Recently bought a used Ev to keep the mileage down on it. Was going to hit the 100,000 long before the 10 yrs. Only thing bad is the Prius EV mileage is not enough. Should be 20- 25. Also in winter u need the engine to run to get heat. If u mash too hard on gas or turn heater on Engine goes in warm-up. You learn to save the EV when the engine starts. Save it for slow town driving. Should not have a pure EV for primary car, but makes a good second car. But a Hybrid plug-in is great for trips & all around driving.
  • I love driving 600 miles a tank!

Since we bought this car we have averaged about 85mpg. It is a very reliable car and perfect for the crazy soccer mom driving that we seem to do every day. Also took it out through the Sierra Nevada National Parks and it did great there too. It is a regular Prius with a little bit extra. We have solar panels so it made sense to get the plug in otherwise a regular Prius would be just fine (and for less).
